June 20, 2006 Day 1 will be the Upcountry Tour, leaving Dorman High School and going east to Greenwood via low-traffic roads. The route is 69 miles, including crossing scenic Lake Greenwood. Day 2 will be a 68-mile trek from Greenwood to the sandhills of Aiken, traveling through historic Edgefield. On Day 3, cyclists will go from Aiken to Newberry, crossing two forks of the Edisto River. Day 4 takes the 68 miles back from Newberry to Spartan-burg, through beautiful Whitmire and past the Rose Hill Plantation. Cyclists can park for free during the four days at Dorman. Indoor and outdoor camping every night is free, with an optional catered meal plan. An ice cream party on Sunday after the tour is planned at Dorman. Support services will be available and support vehicles with non-riding family and friends are welcome. There is a 400-rider limit. For details and pricing and to register, go to www.bicycle-sc.com.
