October 23, 2006 (See "2006 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Teams") SPARTANBURG, SC — Spartanburg is gearing up to welcome the Shine Bowl back to town for a third year. A full slate of activities have been planned for Dec. 14-16, culminating Saturday in the 1 p.m. kickoff of the 70th Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in Wofford College’s Gibbs Stadium. To kick off the activities, University of Georgia's head football coach, Mark Richt, will be the guest speaker for the Shrine Bowl Coaches and Players Awards Banquet, set for 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium. At noon Friday, Dec. 15, the 2006 Shrine Bowl Luncheon will be held at the Spartanburg Marriott at Renaissance Park. Tickets are available in the executive offices on the second floor of the Marriott. They are $30 each, or $250 for a table of 10.
